Welcome to our summer edition.
In April, we officially kicked off our new ANBL Community Foundation. Over 140 ANBL employees had the privilege of giving back by volunteering for an afternoon at one of six charitable organizations. “It was so rewarding, and yet so humbling” said one employee. “I hope we get to do it again next year!” said another. Giving back feels great, and that’s exactly what ANBL plans on doing.
ANBL COMMUNITY AND FESTIVAL COORDINATOR
The mission of our new Foundation is to positively impact the lives of New Brunswick citizens through our community work, primarily focused on social responsibility, promoting mental wellness and protecting our environment. Let me share with you some of the highlights:
We work with several organizations to help support key initiatives:
- MADD Canada – offering our Check 30 program in stores and promoting the responsible use of beverage alcohol with our Safe Grad and Safe Ride Programs
- Canadian Mental Health Association of NB, Youth Impact Jeunesse and the agencies of the United Ways of NB supporting those impacted by mental illness and addictions
- Nature Trust of NB – supporting their environmental initiatives and providing opportunities for our employees to volunteer their time
We’re also looking forward to the seventh annual Protect Our Rivers program which assists the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation fund critical watershed clean-up work all throughout New Brunswick.
While those are our main areas of focus, we are also still very committed to supporting at the local community level. Since 2016, we have donated over $200,000 to local charitable organizations through our quarterly lottery program. We also continue to support many important community programs such as the Daffodil Campaign for the Canadian Cancer Society of New Brunswick; the Poppy Campaign for our NB veterans; the Canadian Red Cross when disaster strikes, and our employee driven fundraisers for prostate and breast cancer.
Wondering how you can get involved or contribute? Proceeds from the sale of ice, as well as the art easel program, in each of our stores will contribute towards the Foundations work. Alternatively, you could join us for some rewarding and fun volunteering by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’d love to meet you, and have you join us in giving back!
