What is your “go to” drink for the summer?
In summer time, the warm weather often makes me want to both drink a light and refreshing beverage or have something that pairs with my barbecue, and there are many options for each.

A crisp Sauvignon Blanc with some strong citrus notes is always enjoyable on a warm Saturday afternoon by the pool or with a good avocado and grapefruit salad as an appetizer. You can find great Sauvignon Blanc in many countries around the world, but some of my favourites come from the Marlborough region in New Zealand, and also Chile where the quality to price ratio is hard to beat.

If we are looking for something simple and refreshing, what about a classic Vodka soda with lime on ice (I prefer more lime on a hot summer day). It doesn’t get any simpler than that, it’s easy, it’s cold, and it’s refreshing.

When I’m thinking barbecue I go with a nice bold red to pair with a grilled steak. If you haven’t had the chance already, I suggest that everyone try the delicious McManis Cabernet Sauvignon from California. This wine is full bodied, very smooth, and ideal for barbecue season. When bringing your glass to your nose there are aromas of ripe black fruits and a little hint of smoke that makes it very attractive. Then on your palate, this full bodied red wine features delicious flavours of ripe dark fruits such as blueberry, blackberry, and black cherry. Year after year, this wine delivers.

How do you decide what to suggest to a customer when they come in?
There are so many different types of beverages at ANBL that we are almost always able to find the perfect drink for the any occasion.

When a customer needs a suggestion I always make sure to ask what is the occasion, event, or meal if they are looking for a food pairing. In fact, a person’s opinion of a drink may differ depending of the setting or occasion. As soon as I get the information, I try my best to pair to their specific needs. My mission is to link product recommendations to the needs of my customers, and it’s a real pleasure.
